Simoniz S1700 Pressure Washer Defect
|
Apr 1, 2008 simoniz complaint by Unsatisfied Customer |

We have purchased a Simoniz S1700 pressure washer on the Jul 21 2007. Since then, we have only used the pressure washer 3 times. In Feb 2008, we have found that the Gun Assembly has a very serious water leak. So we called the Simoniz Service department and we have been told that we needed to purchase a replacement part for this Gun Assembly. Including the shipping, it would cost around Can $40.
My complaints are
1. We have only used the Pressure Washer 3 times. We are totally not satisfied with the reliability of the product.
2. Even though we spend another Can $40 to replace the Gun Assembly, how can we be sured how long it will last? If I spend another Can $40 for another unreliable spare parts. I prefer to spend some more money to buy a new pressure washer of another brand name.
This is the response from Simoniz
Mr. Poon,
Thank you for contacting us and giving us the opportunity to answer your questions.
The most common reason for failure at this time of year occurs from the lack of proper winterization causing the part to suffer frost damages.
Replacement gun assemblies are available at our call center for $22.00 each plus applicable shipping and taxes: in your case the total after taxes and shipping is $39.69
Regards,
Alain Nantel

I am living in Vancouver and I don't think the weather here will cause the freezing problem. If we cannot even put this pressure washer in our garage at Vancouver, please do not buy this junk anymore

I bought the s1700 a month ago, used it 3 times. The hose is of very poor quality and kinking all the time. Yesterday I go to unkink it and it blows a hole, almost taking my hand off. I don't have the receipt anymore and CDN Tire won't help me without it. I'm SOL!
I will never buy another product by Simoniz, nor will I buy from CDN Tire again, at least not a bigger ticket type item!

Bought my Simoniz in May 2007. I used it 6 times I had to replace the gun 4 times, thanks Canadian Tire. When I tried to use it last week (may 200 it didn't work anymore, no pressure at all from the gun. I've had keep it in my house for the winter so it's not a freezing problem or anything like that. The warranty just expire ! I will never buy a Simoniz product anymore.

Simoniz - POS
Purchased a S1700 from CTC last July/07. Gun handle leaked. Exchanged this for a replacement. It was used twice over the summer and stored properly during the winter. 3rd time using this, gun handle leaked again (excessively). Phoned customer support, they stated that gun handle is an "accessory" & beyond the 90-day warranty. Pat replacement quoted $36. I asked if gun handle is considered an accessory, how could the pressure washer be used without it - no answer. These units are distibuted by Trileaf - which owned by Canadian Tire & they're hiding behind. The battle has just begun.

Simoniz pressure washer are garbage. I've had 1600, had to exchange it 4 times for defect in workmanship, then exchanged it for 1900 and the unit has no pressure out of the box. Hello, $350 machine and this crappy?! Have to go return it a 5th time. Good thing Canadian Tire is good about it.

I bought one July2007, used it 2 times without problems. When i took it out of storage las month, the attachment piece for thr hose was completely cracked. Simoniz did fix this under warranty, but when I brought it home to use, the gun handle was leaking. I called simoniz and they said this part only has a 90day warranty. Complete garbage...

I purchased Simoniz pressure washer that was on sale at Canadian Tire last fall. Used it 4 times and the handle began to severely leak. I immediately returned for a full exchange. I used the exchanged unit once last year. Now yesterday I take the unit out and within 10 minutes the handle around the trigger begins to leak. This product is advertised with a 2 year warranty but this does not include accessories but only the pump and motor. Accessories is only 90 days. What a load of @*$#. Now I have to spend $40 and get another wand that will probably last me 5 washes again. There is no way this problem was from poor winterization as I left mine in the basement all winter and the first time this happened it was 24C outside. Stay away from this company! Now I know why there is a stack of Simoniz boxes behind the return counter.
